Crystal Ball with stand

A crystal ball, also known as an orbuculum is a crystal or glass ball and common fortune-telling object.  It is generally associated with the performance of clairvoyance and scrying.

Crystal balls have been used as early as the 1st Century however they rose to popularity in the Victorian Era.

SETTING THE STAGE

LIGHTING - If the room is too bright it can make crystal ball gazing more difficult so start by dimming the lights.  Next place a small source of light such as a candle or Himalayan salt lamp behind you, this will prevent too much light from entering the crystal.

SCENT - Some people like to cleanse the room with a smudge stick first.  Incense is also traditionally used to help set the scent, try fragrances like Frankincense, Sandalwood or White Sage.

MUSIC - Enhance the atmosphere by playing some spiritual or ethereal music

PREPARATION

Once you're ready, gaze deep into the crystal ball.  Techniques which are similar to mediation such as clearing your mind and deep breathing will help you to focus.

Place your hand on the crystal ball for a few moments and visualise the white light surrounding you and the crystal ball.  Allow your mind to absorb any images or symbols that appear within the crystal ball.

RECORD

When you have finished be sure to write down and record everything you saw, felt or experienced during your session.

PRACTICE

Remember, this is an art - it takes patience and practice.  If you don't see anything within your crystal ball one the first few tries, don't get discouraged.

HANDLING

You should be the only person to handle your crystal ball so it isn't affected by other people's energies
